About the Foundation
A quiet institution for a noisy profession.
The Press Quorum Foundation exists for a single, stubborn idea — that a country which depends on its journalists owes them, in turn, a measure of care, dignity, and protection.
We are non-partisan welfare foundation, built and governed by working journalists themselves. For more than a decade we have stood quietly behind the people who report the news — paying medical bills, defending press cards in court, running training that nobody else will fund, and keeping vigil for those whose stories carry a personal cost.
The Foundation accepts no government grants and no advertising. Our work is paid for by our members, by independent philanthropy, and by editors who believe a free press also has obligations to its own.
Our Mission
To safeguard the welfare, safety and craft of working journalists, and to defend the conditions in which honest reporting is possible.

A brief history
Eleven years, in milestones.
We have grown slowly, on purpose. Each new programme has been funded only when sustained giving made it durable. This is what eleven years of careful institution-building looks like.
2014
A foundation, quietly begun
Twelve editors gather in a small Delhi office to draft a charter for journalist welfare.
2017
The first welfare grant
A medical-emergency fund is opened. In its first year it serves 38 reporters across nine states.
